Fraction Calculator App Privacy Policy

This policy explains how the Fraction Calculator app for Android handles your information. It applies to the app published on Google Play under the package name com.calculatefractions.app, developed by Tomasz Warezak, the author of CalculateFractions.com. From version 1.1 the app shows advertising, which is what keeps it free. That advertising is the only reason any data leaves your device, and everything it involves is set out below.

The app displays a single banner ad at the bottom of the calculator screen. The ads are served by Google AdMob, which acts as an independent controller of the data it collects. We never see that data ourselves; we see only aggregate earnings figures in the AdMob dashboard, which identify nobody. Google uses what it collects for three purposes: to select and deliver the ads themselves, to measure how those ads perform, and to detect invalid traffic and fraud. For those purposes Google collects:

• Your device's advertising ID, a resettable identifier that Android provides for exactly this purpose, used to select ads and to limit how often the same ad is repeated, together with an app set ID that distinguishes this app on your device.
• Technical information about your device and the app, such as the device model, operating system version, language and app version.
• Your approximate location, derived from your IP address. The app requests no location permission and has no access to your precise location.
• Interaction with the ad itself, such as whether it was displayed and whether it was tapped.

What Google does with this is described in Google's privacy policy and in how Google uses information from apps that use its services. The content of your calculations is never part of an ad request: the arithmetic runs entirely on your phone, and the numbers you type are never transmitted.

Apart from the advertising described above, the app gathers nothing. There is no hidden logging and no background reporting, and no analytics or crash-reporting product is built into it.

• No name, email address, phone number or any other contact details.

• No account, sign-up or login of any kind.

• No location permission, and so no precise location.

• No contacts, calendar entries, photos, videos or files from your device.

• No record of the fractions you type. They are calculated on your device and never leave it.

• No analytics platform, event tracking or behavioural profiling of our own.

• No crash reporting or diagnostic logging of our own.

The app keeps a single setting of its own, plus some temporary state that never leaves memory. The Google advertising libraries keep their own data separately.

• One setting that remembers whether you chose to hide the welcome card. It is a simple yes or no value and contains nothing personal.
• The numbers you are currently typing, held in memory so your work survives screen rotation. They are discarded when you close the app.
• Your language choice, which is saved by Android itself through the system language settings, not by the app.
• Your consent answer and a working cache, both stored on the device by the Google advertising libraries so that you are not asked again on every launch.

Uninstalling the app removes all of this local data from your device.

Fraction Calculator is a general-audience learning tool. It is not directed at children under 13, and it asks nobody, of any age, for personal information: there is no account, no profile and no free-text field. It does show advertising, served through Google AdMob under Google Play's policies for the audience the app is listed for. If a child uses the app, the advertising controls described above apply in exactly the same way, and the advertising ID can be deleted in Android settings.

Data protection laws such as the GDPR give you the right to access, correct, export or delete personal data held about you, and to withdraw consent you have given. We hold no personal data about you ourselves, so on our side there is nothing to act on. For the advertising data Google is the controller: you can withdraw or change your consent from the "Ad privacy" entry in the app's ⋮ menu, delete or reset your advertising ID in Android settings, and exercise your rights against Google directly through the contact routes in Google's privacy policy. To remove the one local setting the app saves, uninstall the app or clear its data in Android settings.

We may update this policy if the app changes, for example if a new feature is added. The most recent change was the introduction of advertising in version 1.1; before that version the app contained no advertising and requested no internet access. The date at the top of this page always shows when the policy was last revised, and meaningful changes are also reflected in the app listing on Google Play.
